Jenkins as Superintendent of Spartanburg City Schools; notes and news clippings documenting Alexina Jenkins' research interests in S.C. Poet Laureate Archibald Rutledge; souvenir cards with photographic cut of Hampton plantation and poems by Archibald Rutledge, "The Source," "My Longing," "Music in the Night," "The Compass," "Soldier's Return," and "Your Day and Night," all but one initialed by the poet; and illustrated dust jacket from Deep River: The Complete Poems of Archibald Rutledge (1960). Includes undated drafts of essays entitled "Happy Birthday, America!" and "What America Means to Me," possibly by granddaughter, Elizabeth Jenkins Roddey; and a softcover edition of Madeline's Christmas, by Ludwig Bemelmans. Visual materials / photographs include picture postcard of Camp Pinnacle for Girls (Hendersonville, N.C.); and images of school projects and programs, possibly at Jenkins Junior High School (Spartanburg, S.C.), featuring a Christmas pageant and nativity scene, musical performance, and auditorium view; school projects include dioramas and models of dinosaurs, the Civil War and other historical events, and books such as Hans Brinker.
